Preserving America’s Liberty

This week we begin sharing a series of essays, on Flyover-Patriots.com, on what we must do to end the assault on freedom and restore the foundation of our constitutional republic. These are the issues that will determine whether the kind of American we know and love becomes a footnote in history.

It is up to us to recognize the existential threat presented by the growth of government and the concomitant loss of our constitutional rights. At Flyover-Patriots.com, we are unapologetically committed to preserving freedom, constitutional government, and individual rights. These values separate us from the rest of the world and exemplify American exceptionalism. They are what sets us apart.

America’s constitutional rights –freedom of speech, assembly, religion, and the right to bear arms – are being eroded. Some of it at the hands of state and national governments, some by social media and big tech. There is no steadfast mechanism to defeat them, save your depth of commitment and our own. If freedom is going to be preserved, it will be because of people like you.

Anti-freedom measures flourished at the state level, during the Covid-19 pandemic, while the new administration in Washington has concentrated, since day one, on expanding government’s grip on our lives.

Historically, when freedom is lost, it doesn’t happen overnight. It usually happens gradually, and it has already begun. Dozens of governors, without legal foundation, banned church attendance, but most of the nation responded with the timidity a sloth, with a belly full of Ambien, trying to stay awake for an Al Gore speech. Those who did express outrage were maligned as if WE were the weird ones because we cherish our constitutional rights.

It is startling there was no more substantial pushback. Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Kroger stayed open. Schools, churches, and Joe’s Hardware did not. Hopefully, freedom-loving patriots are beginning to wake up.

If the only question were overreaction by mostly Democratic governors, it would be less of an issue. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The Biden Administration began, on day one, using Executive Orders, imposing new mandates that restrict freedom, and reversing existing policies that made us more free.

Whatever you may think of the prior administration, or of Biden, Lunch Bucket Joe has made it clear he intends to carry out the policies of the joint agreement with socialist Bernie Sanders. None of their actions has increased freedom. They reduce it. It is that simple.

We have a choice to make. We can ignore the reality that freedom is under assault. Or, we can push back against those determined to destroy our way of life. We choose the latter option.

The Democratic Party national leadership is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of their extreme leftist/socialist cohort. Censorship by social media platforms, calls for revenge against Trump supporters, Executive Orders that devastate our energy sector and destroy jobs, and corporate support of the emerging socialist agenda all present challenges to the survival of our nation and of the conservative movement.

Which issues will determine whether we are able to preserve freedom and give a voice to citizens who cherish traditional American values, patriotism, and the Constitution itself? We will be outlining them in the weeks to come.

Whatever you may think of the Democratic leadership, give them this: they come to play. They are not timid, they are largely unconstrained by morals and ethics, and they place nothing above their own need for wealth and power.

Politics is a blood sport, not for the faint of heart, and no one plays it more viciously than our Democratic leaders. They go for the jugular. They are not content to just win a legislative battle or an election. They aim to wipe out their opposition and have no problem trampling on our rights to do so. The sooner conservatives realize that the better off we will be.

This is the essential challenge of our times.
