“In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity”
[snip] They think the American people are weak and soft and submissive. But no, the American people are strong and proud, and they will not allow our country, and all of its values, history, and culture, to be taken from them.
Did Donald Trump’s stirring speech at Mt. Rushmore signal the end of patriots’ Summer of Paralysis? For paralysis right-thinking Americans have suffered. Until Independence Day, the president seemed oddly subdued too.
The left’s attacks worked, in that average Americans were surprised – if not stunned – by the vitriol, violence, and destruction.
Leftist-agitated mobs vandalized and looted cities. Democrat mayors watched impotently – or complicity – as their cities were ransacked by mobs. Minnesota’s Democrat governor, Tim Walz, has asked for $500 million in federal aid to rebuild Minneapolis – a city Democrat mayor Jacob Frey did little to save. (Walz can pound sand.)
Violence was a norm as BLM and ANTIFA ran amok. Statues and monuments of revered figures were toppled. Cops were abused. Some Democrats played to the radical left, ballyhooing “Defund the Police” proposals. Hamstringing police have resulted in crime skyrocketing in Democrat-run cities. Earlier, when the COVID contagion started, eager Democrat governors imposed draconian shutdowns, harming millions.
As inspiring as the president’s speech was, what’s the next steps? We’re in an intensifying cold civil war with Democrats and the left. If you’re uncomfortable with that characterization, get over it. We’re engaged in a war between what America is and what Democrats and the left want it to be. What they want America to be more closely resembles Xi’s China – or worse, if the most radical leftist factions prevail.
So, in the days ahead, what must we do to help defeat these anti-liberty, anti-rights forces arrayed against us?
There’s no one answer, no silver bullet. Instead, let’s start a rolling list of actions that we can take in our communities to get in this fight, engage and defeat America’s domestic enemies.
Don’t just vote for President Trump and Republicans. Do something! Volunteer some of your time. Help the president and other GOP campaigns in your community. Contribute some money. If you’re on a limited budget, $5, $10, or $25 makes a difference, particularly if other patriots are doing the same.
The president is the critical first line of defense against relentless Democrats and leftists’ attacks on America. Don’t think much of shrinking Republicans? Who does? But a Congress of linguini-spined Republicans is better than a Congress of predatory, power-hungry Democrats. Do you really want the president impeached and removed if the Democrats control the House and Senate?
Unite with other patriots. There’s power in numbers – and safety. You have to hand it to Democrats and the left, they stand together, and they have each other’s backs. An attack on one is an attack on all. How many Democrats stand against their party on any initiative – forget major initiative? They coordinate their actions and focus their resources.
We need to get wise fast. Maybe it’s time to form Liberty Clubs in our communities. The clubs, not unlike the old Tea Party movement, are means of advancing freedom-inspired initiatives, serve as clearinghouses for local news and critical information, and centers for mobilizations (protests, public hearings, media events, etc.).
Clubs would need financial resources to file lawsuits, fight suits, and defend patriots wrongly accused by Democrats and the left. Democrats have no compunction targeting their opponents via malicious prosecution. Or headhunting people’s jobs. Clubs need to recruit lawyers sympathetic to the cause to litigate when needed.
Liberty Clubs can and should network with other clubs in their states and across the nation. As Benjamin Franklin, “We either hang together or we hang separately.”
Be an evangelical for freedom. If you don’t already speak up, speak up! Democrats and the left are never shy about expressing their opinions – one-on-one, in groups, or whatever.
But let’s take this to the next level. Work with other patriots to identify opportunities to speak to groups. Garden clubs, bowling teams, business gatherings… wherever you can talk to a gathering, go and speak. If you have a Liberty Club – or the equivalent – use these opportunities to identify and recruit like-minded folk. Have your club hold picnics, BBQs, socials… Get out in your community. Visibility and networking shows strength and builds strength.
Be a new Minuteman. Coordinate with other patriots to tend to your safety, your family’s, and neighbors. We’re living in increasingly dangerous times. America outside of Democrat-run cities have yet to be touched by mobs, mayhem, and left-wing coordinated violence. But BLM and ANTIFA are making threats to take their violence and destruction to our communities. We must ban together to protect ourselves and our neighborhoods. Police aren’t sufficient in most jurisdictions to adequately respond to mob actions or multiple attacks. Create a community-wide alert network. If you arm yourself, most definitely train and practice using firearms. No one should look for trouble, but being ready to deal with trouble makes sense in this tense and conflictual time.
What do you think? Weigh in! Add to the list!
