My family, like many others in the US, has a Thanksgiving Day tradition of going around the dinner table and having each of us reveal one thing we are thankful for. The responses usually include such things as family, health, talents and abilities, and freedom.

THE TAKE

It must be special to spend Thanksgiving at a gathering of Democrats. Imagine the table talk. It’s not centered on what to be grateful for, but, rather, what’s wrong with just about everything in America. Worse, no football is allowed on the tube. It’s far too masculine a sport – and violence, other than what Antifa produces, is a no-no.

State agencies are moving in to clean up Austin, Texas after the capital city became a magnet for homeless vagrants, due to laws allowing people to camp out on the streets.

Fox News, November 4, 2019

Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom and his political allies claim climate change is driving California’s increasingly intense and deadly wildfires.

That’s nearly true. Climate change assumptions drive the state’s energy and environmental policies. This has resulted in people being killed in terrible wildfires, electrical blackouts to millions of people causing $5 billion so far in lost economic activity, all while diverting limited resources to a fool’s errand.

“They’re creepy and they’re kooky,
Mysterious and spooky,
They’re altogether ooky,
The Addams [Progressive] Family”

— Lyrics on Demand

At a constituent town hall event hosted by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), a woman said we must start eating babies due to the climate crisis. The woman cited a Swedish professor who said we can eat dead baby, however even then it won’t happen “fast enough” because “we only have a few months left.” The woman wore a shirt with the printed slogan: “Save The Planet. Eat The Children.”

“You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words, yet I’m one of the lucky ones. People are suffering, people are dying, entire ecosystems are collapsing.

“We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is the money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!”

— Greta Thunberg, Yahoo! News, September 23, 2019

QUICK TAKE

Climate change zealots have a new scam. It involves a Swedish teenager. A girl named Greta Thunberg. Heretofore unknown to most humanity. Greta was charged with giving a – stagey – performance at the U.N. Greta’s role was the Child Prophet of Doom. What we have, in the person of Greta Thunberg, is another exhibit of the cynicism and nuttiness that drives the climate change movement.

NEWS FEED SATURDAY: Leftist PC Infecting Medical Schools?

The American College of Physicians says its mission is to promote the “quality and effectiveness of health care,” but it’s stepped out of its lane recently with sweeping statements on gun control. And that isn’t the only recent foray into politics by medical professionals. During my term as associate dean of curriculum at the University of Pennsylvania’s medical school, I was chastised by a faculty member for not including a program on climate change in the course of study. As the Journal reported last month, such programs are spreading across medical schools nationwide.

“We have to actually unify the country around this project. And that means bringing people to the table who haven’t felt that they’ve been part of the process. I mean, this is the hardest thing we will have done certainly in my lifetime,” he said. “This is on par with winning World War II, perhaps even more challenging than that.”
