President Biden is Blaming Everyone Else for Surging Inflation

This article appears at The Hill and can be read in its entirety there: The Hill.

“Americans paid more for everything this Christmas, from toys to turkeys. But this “Bah, humbug” reality didn’t start with the Christmas season. Only 1.4 percent when Joe Biden took the presidential oath last January, year-over-year inflation has come in at 5 percent or more for 7 consecutive months. We know inflation is a growing problem because President Biden has repeatedly gone out of his way to shift the blame away from his administration.

“Anyone who fills up at a gas pump, for example, knows what a big bite increasing gas prices are taking. President Biden blames higher energy prices on oil and gas producers. As reported in November: ‘In a letter to FTC chairman Lina Kahn, Biden claimed “there is mounting evidence of anti-consumer behavior by oil and gas companies.”

“Having pledged during the campaign to eliminate fossil fuels from our energy future, the president’s hostility to conventional energy was obvious on Inauguration Day. That was before he axed the Keystone XL pipeline and took no fewer than 24 other actions that raised energy prices. And yet, President Biden won’t fess up about the effect his policies have had on energy prices.”

Conceit, Lies, Greed, & the COVID Debacle

By J Robert Smith

Hubris, not COVID, presents the greater existential threat to America.

If you haven’t seen the CDC map of COVID (CDC Interactive Map: Community Transmission in the US by County), it’s practically all red, meaning transmission is at its highest level (see above). The U.S. is awash in COVID infections. After nearly two years –- and heaven knows how much money and resources spent and how much wreckage –- COVID hasn’t been whipped, as laughable old Joe Biden vowed. In fact, as viruses do, COVID is spawning variants.

The saving grace is that the Omicron strain appears to be milder, signaling a wind-down. Hospitalizations and deaths from Omicron appear lower.

Per the virology, viruses “shift” or “drift.” Drifted viruses change gradually, allowing your immune system to provide “cross-protection.” Shifted viruses (COVID) represent an “abrupt, major change” and can trigger epidemics or pandemics. Viruses typically drift, because killing off hosts isn’t much of a survival strategy. Nature, not man, is resolving the contagion, as was the case with the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918-19. For sensible people, that should be a sobering realization.

Yet, sensibleness isn’t so common. The critical question is: Will enough of us draw the right lessons from the pandemic or are we doomed to repeat our mistakes again and again? And not just mistakes in the public health sphere.

Faith in Government Led to COVID Failures

By Rob Meyne

Someday, the full story of COVID’s effect on America will be written. If it is compiled competently, and truthfully, it will describe some successes but also a ton of mixed messages, censorship, policy reversals, selective reliance on “science,” and assaults on our rights.

There may be debates about the effectiveness of how we responded to COVID, but there is no dispute it was an astonishingly draconian assertion of governmental power and control over our lives. You will recall President Trump grudgingly accepted the need for “15 days to flatten the curve,” which led to a near-complete shutdown of our economy and normal life. At the same time, he endorsed strategies to protect those who were at greatest risk and initiated Project Warp Speed to develop a vaccine in record time.

Following that initial period, and nearly alone among our leaders, President Trump urged a quick return to normal life. Predictably, the state and local governments, as well as federal regulators, who managed our COVID response fell in love with lockdowns and mandates, and they continued long after the President supported them.

If you rely on your memory, rather than mainstream media, you may recall Biden and Harris both discouraged people from getting a vaccine. Astonishingly, today’s preferred media/Democratic Party narrative is that President Trump and his supporters are anti-vaccine Neanderthals, whose reticence is keeping COVID alive. Quite the contrary: President Trump led development of a vaccine, has promoted it, got the vax himself, and the groups with the lowest vaccination rates are Blacks and Hispanics, groups that generally vote Democratic.

The Unconscionable Treatment of the January 6 Protesters

By J Robert Smith

The DC jail isn’t Andersonville Prison, but its conditions have been long reputed as wretched.

This from Colbert I. King, The Washington Post, November 6:

The U.S. Marshals Service conducted an unannounced inspection and found evidence of “systemic” mistreatment of detainees, including unsanitary living conditions and the punitive denial of food and water. Inspectors found “large amounts of standing human sewage” in toilets in multiple cells, and cells that had been lacking water for days. Staff members “were observed antagonizing detainees” and “directing detainees not to cooperate.” One inmate was warned by a staffer to “stop snitching.”

The Marshals transferred 400 federal detainees out of the prison as a result of their findings. About 40 January 6 protesters remain confined there, however.

Biden’s “Win” Was Against All Odds

By Rob Meyne

One of the ways courts, auditors, regulators, and other investigators determine the likelihood of a specific act is through statistical analysis. It is hugely useful in not determining exactly what did or did not happen – a crime, embezzlement, etc. – but it gives you a good idea where to look further.

In regard to 2020, there is a lot of information that screams loudly that something wasn’t right. When a series of things happen that were statistically nearly impossible, the result was, too.

Every four years, Census takes a measure of how many people report having voted. Every time, the results they get are very close to the actual turnout. This year, however, the Census number suggested there were some 5 million more votes counted than cast. This has never happened before.

This linked article (Chronicles: Biden’s Inexplicable Victory) discusses eleven different statistical or historical anomalies that we are to believe occurred in 2020. None of them suggests a Biden victory was likely. Essentially all of them suggest Trump was not only a favorite, but a prohibitive one, and likely won in terms of legal votes that were counted accurately.

Trump supporters were far more enthusiastic; attendance at his events was through the roof, and just the energy and effort of the campaign was hugely in favor of the GOP. Biden didn’t so much as run for office as nap for it. He seldom even left his basement.

Fascism at the Tip of a Needle

When Joe Biden and liars generally say, “This isn’t about (fill in the blank),” it’s invariably about the very thing they claim it isn’t about. Case in point, Biden’s assertion that his dictum mandating vaccinations for federal workers, federal contractors, and private enterprises with a hundred or more employees “is not about freedom and personal choice.”

We need to thank our marionette president for flagging the truth with his disclaimer. Forcing vaccinations on an estimated 80 million citizens through executive fiat is very much about robbing them of their ability to decide what’s best for their health. Doing so by compelling larger businesses to make employees vaccinate (or lose their jobs) is, well, the stuff of creeping fascism, which Ronald Reagan famously warned would come in the guise of liberalism if it came to the U.S.

On 9/11, Vote No
Confidence In Joe Biden

J Robert Smith

  • Sept. 10, 2021
  • 1-min read

The 20th anniversary of 9/11 falls tomorrow. Joe Biden’s abject surrender in Afghanistan led to the deaths of U.S. soldiers and a lot of innocents. Biden needs to be held strictly accountable for his abominable leadership (if you care to call it that).

Here are excerpts from my latest at American Thinker:

On Thursday, August 26, Joe Biden made a contribution to the terror war… against us. On that infamous day, a suicide bomber attacked the Kabul airport, killing 13 U.S. soldiers and at least 170 Afghanis. How many of the dead Afghanis were American citizens is unreported. The deaths didn’t have to happen. Joe Biden made them happen.

Subsequent to the terror attack, in a televised address, Biden brazenly declared what an “extraordinary success” his cut-and-run was from Afghanistan. Only in the morally upside-down world of progressives and jaded D.C. players can ignominy, disaster, and deaths of innocents be the stuff of a victory lap.

(You can read the full article here.)

The men and women (among them first responders) who died on 9/11 and America’s fighting men and women who’ve since surrendered their lives to defeat the Islamic terrorist menace deserve far better from a president. These braves souls didn’t die in vain. They and we the living deserve far, far better from a commander-in-chief than the cut-and-run that Biden gave us in Afghanistan. God bless America.

Calling America a Cult Is Useful for Leftists and Anti-Trumpers

Flyover

The nature of politics is that people don’t always have to answer for their actions and mistakes. Same goes for life in general. That’s probably a good thing. Count me among those who wouldn’t look forward to such an exercise, at least not in a terrestrial environment. I expect to be held accountable in the next life, but if I can skate for a while, in this one, cool.

Yet, it is frustrating that few significant political actors are held accountable for their roles in putting people in office who then damage the country. It is easy to vote for someone who ends up being a disaster and avoid accountability simply by staying out of relevant discussions. If you are a Jets fan you probably didn’t start a lot of discussions about football last year.

Biden’s Unspoken Aim:
Demoralize Americans

J Robert Smith

  • Sept. 2, 2021
  • 1-min read

If you haven’t had a chance to catch my latest article at American Thinker, the link is below. Here are excerpts:

If you take the time to piece together the puzzle, you begin to see a very disturbing picture. In seven short months, the Biden administration hasn’t only, via policy and executive decisions, precipitated a dire crisis on the U.S. southern border and an unforced debacle in Afghanistan — the latter with dark strategic implications vis-à-vis the PRC, Russia, Iran, and North Korea, along with an anticipated resurgence in terrorism but appears to seek to break the American spirit.

The picture emerging strongly suggests that demoralizing Americans isn’t merely a consequence of bad policies, poor decision-making, and incompetence.

We know this: control requires submission. Saul Alinsky summed up the argument for demoralization to achieve control: “Rule 3: Whenever possible, go outside the experience of an opponent. Here you want to cause confusion, fear, and retreat.”

And this:

Which brings us back to a people’s submission. That’s indeed a goal of the elites who underwrite the Democratic Party, the left that provides votes and muscle, and the establishment players who profit from it. It’s easier to conquer the downtrodden.

Whether or not this sinister Biden-fronted coalition succeeds is in our hands — the hands of tens of millions of patriotic Americans. Our spirits can only break if we allow it. Unbroken, we can — we must — defeat this gathering tyranny.

Watching America Surrender

Sadia Pirouzi, one of 4 women pilots in the Afghan Air Force, has been stoned to death by the Taliban. If we had an honest and effective media, you would hear her name repeatedly. If the major women’s rights groups or Democratic leadership, who claim to have a monopolies on compassion for such people, would be expressing their outrage. Their silence is just further proof of their hypocrisy. Unfortunately, Pirouzi’s death is just a preview of things to come.
