One of the many truisms about the political debates in America is how incredibly predictable they are. If you look at any of the positions of Democratic candidates for president, and their counterparts in Congressional leadership, and ask what position they are likely to take on any issue, the answer can usually be found by answering this question: what will give them the most power?

The key motivator for those on the left is not to improve lives, make the nation stronger, or curb the heartbreak of psoriasis; it is to increase their power. Examples to the contrary are as hard to find as the tooth fairy, Sasquatch, or moderate Democrats.

“You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words, yet I’m one of the lucky ones. People are suffering, people are dying, entire ecosystems are collapsing.

“We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is the money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!”

— Greta Thunberg, Yahoo! News, September 23, 2019

QUICK TAKE

Climate change zealots have a new scam. It involves a Swedish teenager. A girl named Greta Thunberg. Heretofore unknown to most humanity. Greta was charged with giving a – stagey – performance at the U.N. Greta’s role was the Child Prophet of Doom. What we have, in the person of Greta Thunberg, is another exhibit of the cynicism and nuttiness that drives the climate change movement.

On April 16, 2014, White House records show that Devon Archer, Hunter Biden’s business partner, made a private visit to the White House for a meeting with Vice President Joe Biden. Five days later, on April 21, Joe Biden landed in Kiev for a series of high-level meetings with Ukrainian officials.

Soon the United States and the International Monetary Fund would be pumping more than $1 billion into the Ukrainian economy, as I wrote in the New York Post.

“You listen to a justice like Antonin Scalia, not the most liberal justice who’d served on the Supreme Court, and even he found that there is no absolute guarantee under the Second Amendment and that the government does have a power to regulate those kinds of weapons that are extraordinarily unusual or deadly,” the former Texas congressman said on CNN Wednesday night.

“I shouldn’t have done that. I should have known better, but I didn’t and I’m really sorry,” Trudeau told reporters. “I take responsibility for my decision to do that. I shouldn’t have done that. I should’ve known better. It was something that I didn’t think was racist at the time but now I recognize that it was something racist to do and I’m deeply sorry.”

NEWS FEED TUESDAY: Drone Attacks Coming to the U.S.?

While most drones can carry only relatively small payloads, this will not deter terrorists. Several terrorists working together can launch an attack using several small drones, each carrying approximately a pound of explosives with shrapnel and triggered to explode by radio signal or by cell phone. Alternatively, a single terrorist could use a heavy-lift drone to transport explosives and explode them over the target, or to drop an explosive device near a specific target or into a crowd.

The New York Times suddenly made a major revision to a supposed bombshell piece late Sunday concerning a resurfaced allegation of sexual assault by Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh — hours after virtually all 2020 Democratic presidential candidates had cited the original article as a reason to impeach Kavanaugh.

The update included the significant detail that several friends of the alleged victim said she did not recall the purported sexual assault in question at all. The Times also stated for the first time that the alleged victim refused to be interviewed, and has made no comment about the episode.

If Everyone Is Racist, No One Is

Rob Meyne

Updated: Sept. 24, 2019

One of the most interesting parts of our political system is that there are no rules or requirements regarding how a person can decide how to vote. One is free to vote for the candidate who is taller, more handsome, from their home state, plays tennis, went to A. S. U., or happens to sound the most like their cousin Ed.

A system where people were somehow required to base their decisions on facts and issues would sometimes yield a different result than does ours. But among our freedoms is the freedom to be stupid. We can be uninformed, unintelligent, and unconcerned, and still vote. That is a freedom that millions of people embrace on a quadrennial basis.
