Is Compromise Possible When You Can’t Even Agree on Whether the Sky Is Blue

Most in the mainstream media place President Trump somewhere on a spectrum that runs from worthless, to dangerous, to evil. Hopefully, the opinions of future historians will not necessarily be clouded by slavish devotion to the Left/Democratic Party/Socialists/media (but I repeat myself).

It would seem logical that people who fail at something, and want not to fail the next time, would ask what they need to do differently? If you hit a golf ball into the rough, you generally assume you did something wrong. You don’t assume the bad shot was the result of demonic intervention, a gypsy spell, or the heartbreak of psoriasis. If you want to hit the next shot better, you need to, well, hit it better.

Never in memory has our country been dominated by political cohorts that seem to know less about each other, as these piece from the Guardian and Town Hall edify. Yet understanding the person sitting on the other side of the table is fundamental to making progress.

If you’re seeking to get a job, buy a house, or negotiate a union contract, it’s essential to understand what the other side wants. You can’t solve problems, come to agreements, or conclude deals that both parties endorse unless you understand what you both care about. It’s that simple.

Even If A Politician’s Lips Aren’t Moving, They’re Probably Still Lying

As we are surrounded by more information every day, it’s more important than ever to look at its source, validity, and the biases of those who put it forward. If you see a post on Facebook or a political ad that says the sky is blue you ought to get confirmation from at least three additional sources.

It reminds me of the guy who heard his mother-in-law had died. His direction to the funeral home was “Embalm, cremate, and bury. Take no chances.”

If You Aren’t Scared by FBI Corruption You Must Not Be Paying Attention

For more than two years, President Trump, his supporters, and Americans who are trying to be fair and factual, have known the FBI was at fault in the Russia probe. Not the agency, of course, but high-ranking officials in it. Agencies don’t do anything; people acting on their behalf do. But the respect that most Americans have for the FBI, as we should, do not prohibit us from calling out the corrupt actions of a few of its leaders. People who hide behind the reputation of their employer to avoid accountability are reprehensible.

Democrats Love the Police As Long As They’re After Someone Else

Someone who dozed off in the mid-1960s and woke up yesterday would have a hard time understanding what the major political parties stand for. On some issues, there appears to have been a switch more extreme than the trans-gender surgeries that we are now supposed to think turn a man into a woman. That isn’t possible, of course, but we’re supposed to pretend it is.

Through much of history, the Democrats have positioned themselves as defenders of liberty, advocates of civil rights, and the party of the oppressed. Even as recently as the Obama years, you couldn’t swing a dead cat (not that one often does that under any circumstances) without hitting a Democrat who was criticizing police and law enforcement in general, because common assumptions were that cops were a problem. The pejorative “pig,” used to attack police officers, was popularized by mainly Democratic activists and their enablers in public office.

Why Don’t Democratic Candidates Seem to Like America Much?

It’s astonishing how politically bifurcated we have become. Many people who’ve spent years supporting politicians who are seriously flawed – liars, crooks, hypocrites –have adopted faux outrage over everything done by President Trump. Some Democratic leaders announced before Trump was even inaugurated that they wanted to impeach hm. Their entire agenda, for more than three years, has been driven by a single goal: to get rid of Trump. They put politics ahead of the national good, consistently and reliably. (There are days that I wish Republicans in Congress were as disciplined and committed as the Democrats.)

Always Forgive, Never Forget

We come to you today fresh from a visit across the pond. An enjoyable, albeit too brief, visit to Amsterdam, London, Paris, and Tours, France.

While there are a ton of great memories to share, on my mind this morning is how odd it is to walk down streets, sit in a café, or reflect in a park that was once occupied by Nazi Germany. The same street you can walk down today was once patrolled by the Gestapo. A hotel you stay in may have been a hiding place for Jewish people. The table at which you sit is the same place where Nazi officers once dined.

Depending on What the Definition of “Is” Is, Hillary Is Still a Crook

If there’s a sentient creature who doesn’t realize how one-sided are the mainstream media, the reactions to the recent report from the State Department on Hillary’s email wrongdoings provides all the proof you need. Many outlets, such as the Washington Post, said that it “clears” her. Well, no. The report does nothing of the sort.

Quit Doing What We’re Doing!

We’ve discussed in these pages that one way to understand Democratic strategies is by looking at the concept of “projection.” Discussed here, projection, although there is a lot more to it, is a process by which people tend to see qualities, both good and bad, in others that may not be accurate and may also be present in themselves. Put another way, the other guy always looks like he is guilty of whatever you are.

You think your kid is being illogical, when maybe you are; you think your wife is irritable, but actually you are; you think Chuck Schumer is an honorable and principled person, but… wait a minute. Bad example. No one ever thinks that.
